What is a Micro Wedding?

If you’re considering a wedding in or near Kansas City, but want to forego a big affair, a micro wedding may be just for you. But what exactly is a micro wedding?

A micro wedding is an intimate affair, typically with a guest list of 50 people or fewer. It retains many of the traditional elements of a wedding—such as a ceremony and reception with your closest family and friends—but on a much smaller scale.

“Micro” does NOT mean less significant.

Choosing a micro wedding doesn’t mean your day is any less important or special. In fact, it means you’re choosing to focus on the most important aspects of the day—”trimming the fat,” if you will. This allows for a more personal and detailed celebration, where you and your partner can spend quality time with each guest and invest more in unique experiences or higher-end details that might not be feasible with a larger guest list. Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a big, traditional wedding! However, many couples favor micro weddings for their intimate atmosphere, reduced stress, and often, lower costs. It allows you to prioritize what truly matters to you on your special day.

Is a Micro Wedding for You?

It all comes down to your personality and what you really want! If you love the intimacy of an elopement but don’t want to sacrifice a guest list or traditional elements of a wedding, then a micro wedding strikes the perfect balance.

However, it also means making tough decisions about whom to invite, which can lead to difficult conversations with friends and family not included. If you value intimacy, quality over quantity, and are looking for a way to make your wedding uniquely yours without the grandeur and extensive planning of a traditional wedding, a micro wedding might just be the perfect fit for you.

At the end of the day, you'll be married! And that's what matters.

Photography Pricing for a Micro Wedding vs Traditional Wedding

Since a micro wedding is on a smaller scale than a traditional wedding, does this mean photography costs less?

Not necessarily. The cost of photography isn’t based on whether you’re having a micro or traditional wedding, but rather on the amount of coverage you need. (And I have packages for both partial and full day coverage.) While micro wedding photography doesn’t necessarily cost less, choosing a micro wedding means more room in your budget for the things you value most.

Big or small, your wedding day is incredibly important. Your photos will be one of the few things from your wedding that will last long after the event is over. They will give you a way to relive the memories and emotions of this incredible day. You want to have as much of it documented, trust me. And I will do so with as much passion as you have for each other.

No two couples (or weddings) are the same. Rather than try to determine exactly how many hours your wedding will be, I’ve streamlined my packages into two types of coverage: Partial Day or Full Day. Contact me so we can chat about your vision for your big day and determine which type of coverage will be perfect for you! Pricing includes weddings in Kansas City and the northwest Missouri area.
